​This simple contrast highlights two distinct attitudes toward education: narrow specialization versus intellectual curiosity. The first student falls into the trap of short-sighted utilitarianism, treating college simply as a vocational training ground. However, genuine higher education is meant to broaden one’s perspective rather than restrict it to a single discipline. Real-world challenges rarely fit neatly into one academic field, and cross-disciplinary knowledge is essential for creative problem-solving and long-term adaptability.

​In my view, college students ought to step out of their academic comfort zones. While mastering one’s major remains fundamental, exploring interdisciplinary lectures fosters critical thinking and well-rounded competence. True personal growth begins when we stop asking what is merely "useful" for tomorrow's exam and start pursuing what enriches our minds for the future.
